The price of gold<\/a> surged alongside other precious metals after the US monthly jobs report came in much softer than economists had been predicting. In a high inflationary environment with the FED committing to ultra-low rates and its QE programme, gold looks set to shine further.<\/p>

One of the key drivers for precious metals has been the Federal Reserve\u2019s QE program. As long as the market believes that the FED is going to continue printing then a strong bid-tone is likely to remain in place towards gold prices.<\/p>

A domino effect is currently in play across the commodity space. With many raw commodities going parabolic, speculators are turning their attention to metals with industrial value, and speculative monetary value, like gold.<\/p>

Copper<\/a> hit a new all-time high on Friday, while silver<\/a> bulls have their sights on $30.00, which has long been speculated to be a key trigger level for a parabolic run-in silver. Gold bulls are inching closer to the yellow-metals key 200-day moving average, around the $1,850 level.<\/p>

Gold\u2019s own trigger level is said to be $2,000. If gold were able to get above $2,000 then the yellow metal could also go parabolic and start to test big levels such as $2,500 and $3,000.<\/p>

Concerns, and indeed more evidence of inflationary pressure is ramping up is likely to prompt more gains in gold if this week consumer price inflation report from the United States economy comes in hot.<\/p>

Dip-buyers may be rewarded if a pullback towards the $1,810 level. This was a key pivot point for gold earlier this year. So it makes sense that if the price of gold does pullback this week then this key spot may get a retest.<\/p>

Current sentiment towards gold on the ActivTrader Market Sentiment tool is not giving many clues right now as sentiment amongst retail participants is evenly split. Gold short-term Technical Analysis<\/strong><\/p>

The short-term technicals for gold show that a large, inverted head and shoulders pattern has reached its overall upside objective of $1,840 level.<\/p>

Fibonacci extension analysis is also showing that the 100.00 percent Fib extension target has been reached. A pullback has since occurred, meaning that this is either time for a correction in gold or bulls are accumulating before the next push higher towards the 161.80 percent Fib extension target, at the $1,891 level.<\/p>

As mentioned earlier, a short-term technical pullback towards the $1,810 level could be a great opportunity to scale into the current move higher. The $1,800 level also offers solid technical support for gold.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Gold Medium-term Technical Analysis<\/strong><\/p>

According to the daily time frame, gold will be turning technically bullish if buyers can take out the metals key 200-day moving average, around the $1,860 level, this week.<\/p>

A key falling trendline resistance is also located above the 200-day MA, around the $1,880 level. If bulls can break past the 200-day and key trendline resistance, I suspect that the price of gold could surge towards the $2,000 price level.<\/p>

The larger picture also shows a massive cup and handle pattern in play, meaning that the price of gold could go parabolic if gold crosses and holds above the $1,980 resistance level.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
