Markets are still awaiting Federal Reserve Chairman Powell\u2019s speech later today, with the scheduled speech set to happen around 6.30pm London time.<\/p>

Private businesses or ADP private sector jobs showed during the US that the United States economy created 127,000 jobs in November of 2022, the least since January of 2021, and well below market forecasts of 200,000. T<\/p>

The slowdown was led by construction and other interest rate-sensitive sectors while consumer-facing segments were bright spots. Stock markets failed to show a negative reaction, largely due to the positive GDP release from the US today.<\/p>

Breaking down the data, the services-providing sector created 213,000 jobs, led by leisure\/hospitality 224,000, trade\/transportation\/utilities 62,000, education\/health 55,000, while a fall was seen in professional\/business services -77,000, financial activities -34,000, and information -25,000.<\/p>

The goods sector added 86,000 jobs, mainly due to mining 16,000 while the manufacturing sector shed 100,000 jobs and construction lost 2,000. Meanwhile, annual pay was up 7.6%.<\/p>

Nela Richardson, chief economist of ADP said Nela Richardson “The data suggest that Fed tightening is having an impact on job creation and pay gains. In addition, companies are no longer in hyper-replacement mode. Fewer people are quitting, and the post-pandemic recovery is stabilizing”.<\/p>

As mentioned earlier the US Q3 GDP\u00a0was better than expected at +2.6%. This was the second estimate for US GDP. It should be noted Q2 GDP was -0.6%, so the number is solid.<\/p>

Consumer spending came in at +1.7% vs +1.4% advance. These details are positive, especially the consumer part, which is the lifeblood of the US economy.<\/p>

The US GDP deflator 4.3% vs 4.1% advance estimates showed, while Core PCE prices 4.6% vs 4.5%. Corporate profits were at -0.2%, and Sales 4.0% vs 3.3%.<\/p>
