The Nasdaq<\/a> had one of its worst daily selloffs in months this week after the US Federal Reserve committed to more strong rates hikes in futures and hiked by 75-basis.<\/p>

A natural casualty of a reversal in risk-on trades, the Nasdaq fell by nearly 2 percent intraday after the Federal Reserve hiked as expected and poured cold water on the \u201cFed pivot\u201d.<\/p>

With the odds of more aggressive rate action high it is probable that we are going to see yet more downside in the Nasdaq. The next bearish catalyst could be the Fed rate decision in December.<\/p>

The technical are pointing for a move towards 9,000. This may surprise bulls, as traders have been scooping up dips. But with more rate hikes, selling rallies now seems more plausible.<\/p>

Traders sentiment towards the Nasdaq is still very bullish, which could hint at more downside as the retail crowd is not yet overheated on the bullish side, which is worrying.<\/p>

According to the ActivTrader market sentiment tool only 83% are bullish towards the index. Based on this sentiment reading I think we could see more selling towards the leading US Tech index continue over the coming days.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Four-Hour Chart<\/strong><\/p>

The Nasdaq index on the four-hour time frame is close to igniting a near technically perfect head and shoulders pattern. The price has been dropping sharply as the pattern continues to play out.<\/p>

Daily Chart<\/strong><\/p>

The Nasdaq index is currently bearish in the medium-term, however, the price is currently starting to crash back inside a broadening expanding wedge pattern between 13,000 and 10,000.<\/p>

If we see a continuation lower, we could well see a test towards the bottom of the wedge.
