Although it was notably higher than the 8.3% last month.<\/p><p>CPI inflation came in at 0.0% month-on-month vs +0.2% expected. The main relief was that it was a significant drop from the +1.3% during the previous month, which spooked market last month.<\/p><p>Core CPI figures from July really caught the markets attention as it dropped to 5.9% year-on-year vs 6.1% expected and of course the previous months reading of 5.9%.<\/p><p>President Biden has been on the worse talking up the CPI report today. Biden noted that \u201cwe\u2019re seeing some sign that inflation is moderating\u201d and \u201cOur work is far from over.\u201d<\/p><p>Biden also said that \u201cWe expect headwinds ahead, but the situation is improving\u201d. The market may have overlooked his comments as the reaction was instantaneous today in terms of the expected moves.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3N3cW3M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq<\/a> has powered ahead by nearly 1.5%, while the other major indices, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3xANvRt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P500<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3tCIuXl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DJIA<\/a> are posting solid gains. EU stocks have also been bolstered by the news.<\/p><p>Perhaps the main market reaction is in the US dollar currency. The greenback has lost substantial ground, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2YAQOVh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EURUSD<\/a> pair is leading the gains right now at 1.0350.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2Zn4HaM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British pound<\/a> is trading higher by nearly 1.5 percent, and the US dollar has lost some significant ground against the <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2OJjKKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japanese yen<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2yFD0hu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aussie<\/a> is at its highest in nearly two-months today.<\/p><p>Elsewhere, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2ZsFzPL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gold<\/a> has shown a muted reaction as it starts to become comfortable above the $1,800 level. <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/319C7df\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Silver<\/a> is leading precious metals in terms of gains and trades near $21.00.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The US dollar currency has fallen sharply after the US CPI number came in lower than expected earlier today, which is helping to perpetuate the notion that inflation has \u201cpeaked\u201d.
